Program Info
Girls Spring Season
HYL offers an in-town program for girls in pre-k to grade 2 and a travel program for grades 3 to 8 playing in the Founders Girls Lacrosse League. Boys play with Acton-Boxboro.
The spring lacrosse season runs from March or early April to mid June. Registration opens in the fall for the spring season.
There are no try-outs or cuts in HYL and coaches strive for equal playing time. Every player, regardless of experience or ability will have ample playing opportunity. Please do not be concerned if your child has never played lacrosse, we welcome players of all abilities in our programs.
Girls In Town Programs
(Pre-kindergarten-Grade 2)
6U Ministix: girls ages 4-6 in pre-k and kindergarten play ministix. This includes a variety of age-appropriate games and drills to learn catching, throwing, cradling, dodging, and scooping led by parent coaches and Bromfield Girls Lacrosse Players.
8U Grade 1-2: girls under age 8 participate in an age appropriate recreational introduction to lacrosse that gradually introduces a limited number of scrimmages and the league jamboree at season end.
*Registration is open to residents of Harvard, Devens, children who attend Harvard Public Schools, and children whose town does not offer a lacrosse program.
Girls Travel Program
Grades 3-4, 5-6, 7-8
The travel program for girls in grades 3 and up are age appropriate teams for new and returning players and participates in the Founders Girls Lacrosse League (FGLL) and have an approximately 8 game season plus the league jamboree.
FGLL does it's best to schedule an even amount of home and away games. Away games are typically within 45 mins of Harvard and include towns like Acton-Boxboro, Concord-Carlisle, Lincoln-Sudbury, Northboro-Soutboro, and Westford. Game scores are kept but standings are not maintained and there are no playoffs.
