Required Equipment
To play girls lacrosse, each player must have the following equipment:
- Women's lacrosse stick (does not have a deep pocket unlike boys sticks.)
- Approved eyewear (lacrosse goggles)
Molded Mouth guard (any readily visible color other than clear or white) - Lacrosse equipment can be purchased at a local sports store such as Hit The Net Sports in Acton.
- If you are new to lacrosse and need to purchase all required equipment, the baseline cost will be at least $100. The costs will vary depending on quality of the equipment and brand.
The boys learn to play program requires a mens lacrosse stick, mouthguard, and lacrosse gloves.
Please be sure that your child has mouth guards and goggles for all practices and games or they will not be permitted to play. No jewelry is allowed on the field – including earrings in newly pierced ears.
Recommended footwear will vary depending on playing surface (synthetic turf or natural grass). Generally, molded sole cleats (soccer shoes are acceptable) are recommended for playing on grass, and flat-bottom athletic shoes ('flats') or turf shoes (sneakers are acceptable) are recommended for playing on turf. Almost all of HYL's away games are on synthetic turf.
HYL provides goalie equipment. The equipment includes the following: helmet with face mask, separate throat protector, chest protector, abdominal and pelvic protection, goalie gloves, and leg padding on the shins and thighs.
